Speaking of... a day in the life of Sabrina! Enjoy :o).
hi guys, i'm sabrina (from smiles in the sunshine state recently moved from the baby loves) ! i'm a sahm to two little boys. Colton, 5(kindergarten) & Braedon, 4(pre-k). my husband (who is totally awesome & i am forever grateful for) is ALWAYS working so it's just the three of us most of time! here's what our typical day is like....
6:00am- the alarm goes off, i hit snooze a couple times, finally make my way to the kitchen. get the coffee started, colton's school uniforms ironed, fix my coffee & get dressed.
6:20am- start to wake the big boys & by big boys i mean colton & the husband (jeremiah) get them both out of bed. while jeremiah gets ready for work, colton gets dressed, gets his backpack together, brushes his teeth. (we don't eat breakfast at home, the school district provides free breakfast to ALL students k-12. makes my life easier & he loves it).
7:00am- i send the big boys off with hugs & kisses! (jeremiah drops colton off on his way to work) then it's time to get the little up. we spend the next hour eating breakfast, watching cartoons, getting dressed & brushing teeth.
8:00am- braedon & i are out the door. he's got to be to school by 8:30 & i am usually home by 8:45.
8:45am-11:00am- this is my ME time! i usually have another cup of coffee & my own breakfast when i get home. this is when i clean, do laundry, surf the web, shower, get ready, blog, catch up on the dvr or run errands.
11:00am-11:45am- is spent picking braedon up from school & heading back home
12:00pm- when we get home braedon is ready for lunch so i fix that up for him. he usually spends a little down time watching cartoons after he eats.
1:00pm-2:00pm- this is braedon's favorite part of the day, it's just me & him and we usually just spend it playing. with his kitchen. the potato heads. puzzles. abc mouse. he might spend a little time on his tablet, or watching a show but we really try to soak up every minute of this time we can. it's special & next year we wont have it anymore.
2:00pm-3:00pm- this is spent picking colton up from school. it's also when braedon takes a nap. he sleeps in the car, the whole time. every single day.
3:00pm-3:30pm- snack time!
3:30pm-5:00pm- play time! i play with the kids, the kids play with each other. it's just all around fun time
5:00pm-6:00pm- dinner time. the kids usually watch a show while i am getting dinner ready & then they chow down. i wish i could tell you we had a serving of fruits, veggies, meats but we don't. they are both extremely picky eaters & over the years i've learned to pick our battles. there's a lot of grilled cheese & chicken nuggets consumed in this house, at least for now.
6:00pm-6:30pm- both kids have homework assigned every day, so this time is spent getting it all finished up, reviewing colton's binder, signing anything that might have to go back to school, etc.
6:30pm-7:00pm- shower time. both kids get sparkly clean, in jammies & teeth brushed.
7:00pm-7:30pm- story time. i read one to colton then he reads one to me & it's time to get tucked in. that's usually the end of their day. they each have a tv in their room, so we turn on a movie on our way out & by ....
8:00pm- both kids are sleeping!!!
8:00pm-9:00pm- i pick up the messes from the day. catch up on social media, etc.
9:15pm- husband is finally home from work. we get our dinner made & finally eat, catch up on the day, watch our shows, play some wii, whatever. that's our time!
12:00am- finally bedtime for me. set the alarm for 6am & get ready to do it all over again!
(my husbands days alternate sometimes he is off at 9pm sometimes he is off at 5pm so our days vary a little when he is here. usually when he is home early, or off work we eat dinner with the kids. they also try to get some "boy time" in on those days & they'll go do cool things together)
What is the most surprising thing to you about being a mom?
obviously, the overwhelming love! who knew you could have so much love in your heart! i mean you know you love your kids as soon as your find out your pregnant but as soon as you set eyes on them are no words to explain how much your heart is bursting with love & then you're surprised again when number 2,3,4 comes along as you have just as much love as the first time!
also. things are always changing. what your kids like, what they will eat, what their schedule is, etc. i've never spent much time getting to used to anything because as soon as you do, it changes & you start all over again!
What advice would you give to new or soon-to-be mamas?
YOU ARE MAMA! what you read in books. the advice your friends & family give you might not work for your family & thats okay. as mom, you know what does work for you, your baby, your family. do what you feel is right, not what others say or think you should be doing!
What are your top three baby products?
it's been awhile since my boys were babies but my must haves were
-a swing. life saver time & time again. it would put them right to sleep if i couldn't
-a pack n play. i am way overprotective & bringing home a new baby is so nerve wrecking i wanted them both in my room with me, but didn't want to do co-sleeping. both babies spent the first couple
-lots & lots of blankets for swaddling. in this house, it was the only way our boys would sleep. as soon as an arm or foot would pop out we'd be swaddling all over again. better to invest in some good ones from the get go.
Thanks for sharing your day with us Sabrina!
