'noooooooooooooooooo!'

I will have a day in the life post sometime soon for you, just haven't received it yet.  I'm sure you'll live :o).  Until then, some Ryann stories...

Yesterday I was on the phone with my mom, and walked to the door to peek outside and see if my car windows were frosted.  Because I hadn't checked the forecast yet, I was a wee bit surprised to see snow on top of my neighbors roof!  It was barely snowing and there was a light dusting on the ground.  Nothing crazy.  Of course just enough to make for some slick intersections, but oh well.

I asked Ryann if she wanted to see something cool outside, and told her that it had snowed.  She came over to the door, and when I opened it her eyes got huge, "Nooooooo!"  Which was really her saying snow, she just left of the S (and I didn't want to type it out like she had screamed now :o).  She immediately was saying "touch it!  touch it!  touch the snow!"  She was so excited.  So before we headed off to the gym I let her play for just a minute (so I could snap a couple pictures of course).

Wow, I did a poor job editing those photos, but I'm too lazy to go back and fix it.  Nonetheless, I think it is safe to say that her reaction to the snow was much more pleasant than last year...

IMG_9159

Granted, last year there was a lot more snow and she could barely sit up, let alone move (because of the coat and pants).  I suppose some of that might have had something to do with it.  :o)

A couple more Ryann related tidbits... the other day we were in the car and she was drinking water out of her camelbak.  She started shouting out "C! A! M! E! L! B! A! K! Speeeeeeeellllssss.... WATER!!!"  I about died laughing.  Poor thing, she was so proud of herself and I couldn't compose myself.  She definitely gets an A for effort on that one.  I did inform her that no, it actually spelled camelbak, but that she was really close (which instantly reminded me of the kid at the end of this video).

Lastly, I need your help on this one (if you're on facebook you already know about it!).  Yesterday at nap time Ryann discovered she could reach the light switch from her crib.  It was mildly amusing watching her on the monitor, switching it on and off.  She would flip it a couple times, and then quickly lay down in the corner, like she knew she wasn't supposed to be doing it.  After laying there for a few seconds she would roll over, look up at the switch, and I swear that thing was calling to her.  She would get up and flick the switch a couple more times and then lay down again as fast as she could.

That process continued for a couple minutes, until one time she flipped the switch, looked around, and then tried to climb out of the crib.  She was literally strattling the rail, and the only reason she didn't finish getting out, was because I went running towards the room screaming like a bat out of hell.  I didn't want to know what happened if she hit the hardwood without catching herself.

I no doubt scared the crap out of her, I could see the tears welling up in her eyes.  She quickly laid down, asked me to cover her with the blanket and sing her a song.  I felt terrible for scaring her, but I didn't want her to get hurt!  After I left the room she didn't move an inch.  Since then she hasn't touched the light switch, nor has she tried to climb out.  But I'm still not sure where we go from here.  I honestly have no idea how she would react to being in a toddler or twin bed.  She can't turn the doorknobs yet so she wouldn't be escaping her room 90 bajillion times (yet) and I think if I explained it enough times she would get the concept to stay in bed and go to sleep.  But do we need to do this right now?  Or do I wait a bit and see if she tries it again?

On facebook a crib tent was suggested... has anyone used one?  I'm just looking for all the help I can get.  I know she can pretty much climb out of the pack 'n play so we are going to have to figure out a regular bed solution soon, just really not sure what route to take.  Any suggestions or experiences you can share with me would be great!

this and that

Really, I am so glad that you guys keep mentioning that these random ramblings are so well received.  It is nice to have a place to dump stuff that doesn't seem to need a post of it's own.  So on to some ramblings...

::  I thought I should mention that my yellow + stripes outfit combo seen in this post, was inspired by a pin.  I feel as though I always need some justification for time spent wasted browsing on pinterest.  I liked the original pin's version a bit more, but I was working with what I've got, and that didn't include a cute little ruffly cardigan.  Oh well.  I heart stripes.

stripesandyellow

::  Yesterday I told Ryann we had to get gas, that our car's gas tank was empty.  She asked, "Did the car drink it all?"  I thought that was a pretty clever interpretation of the situation.

::  Want to know how to test your will power against sweets?  Bake some cookies, and then have your mom bring you some cookies she baked, and then have girl scout cookies delivered in the same week.  Yep, that is happening around here.  I'll give you my prediction on the outcome of this situation... I'm going to eat a lot of cookies.  And then the residents at the hospital will also get a lot of cookies.

::  Oh yeah, yesterday during nap time I was listening to Ryann in her crib over the monitor... "No, don't touch da monitor.  No pull on curtains.  No piggy bank.  No pull on drawers.  No climb chair..."  Apparently there are a lot of things off limits in her room.   Whoops.

::  A few pictures from our little visit to Santa this weekend...  Please ignore the terribleness of the photo with Santa.  I was just trying to get a quick picture before she freaked out.  At first she had no interest in sitting on Santa's lap (even though she had been talking about it ALL MORNING).  But then I promised her some chocolate if she did.  Bam.  She sat on Santa's lap.  I really need to work on not bribing my child so much...

Oh and that little sweater dress/top?  It was the one she wore Christmas day last year.  I love that I was able to reuse it this year (and I think I like it better this year, much better with the jeggings than the grey leggings :o)!

IMG_7634

:: Speaking of Christmas outfits.  I absolutely cannot find anything I want Ryann to wear for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (ok I haven't really thought that much about Christmas day, we're usually a bit more casual that day, but whatever...).  I've exhausted Baby Gap, Old Navy, Gymboree, The Children's Place, Nordstrom, Macy's, Crazy 8, Tea Collection, Janie and Jack, a local boutique... I want something dressy, not overly traditional, and it needs to be comfortable.  Last year Ryann HATED her dress, granted at the time she was a teething monster cutting her top two teeth, but she was extra cranky until we changed her to her pjs (I haven't picked out Christmas pjs either... I should probably just let her wear her gingers :o).  Any suggestions on other places I can check?

::  I took this photo last week, had to pop it in here :o).

IMG_5610

::  Ryann peed on my foot last night.  You're jealous, I know.  She went on the potty before we were going to take a bath, and right now she has this terrible habit of not getting it all out at once.  She just gets so excited that she went, that she pees or poos a bit, and then stands up to check it out and say 'hooray!'.  Then she'll sit down and go some more, stand up again... you get the gist.  A trip to the potty can take FOREVER.  Well last night she went, stood up, yadda yadda, I asked her if she needed to go anymore and she was just dancing around like a goober, I asked her a few more times and assumed she was done because she wasn't responding either way.  So I turned on the bath water.  She was standing next to me while I was adjusting the water temperature, when she suddenly said "Mommy!" and looked up at me with huge eyes.  And then she peed... all over the floor, and all over my foot.  Oh the joys of motherhood.  :o)

December 5, 2011

keep it realistic

With the holiday season in full swing, and the parties, sweets and amount of goodies only increasing as it gets closer to Christmas, I thought I'd mention keeping realistic goals in mind when it comes to weight loss and fitness.

Unless you have some extreme amount of will power, an awesome motivating factor and the worlds best support system, now is most likely not the time to make drastic lifestyle changes.  Trying to lose weight over the holidays is a pretty daunting task.  Could it be done?  Absolutely, I'm sure it could.  But it would take a lot of restraint and dedication.  And starting on a weight loss journey right now could be setting yourself up for failure.  For me, too many bad weeks would be excuses to give up.  Nobody needs excuses to give up.

Maintaining weight loss, or even simply your current weight, is a success all on its own.  So throughout this holiday season set realistic attainable goals.  For me personally, the easiest thing to keep up with is my workouts.  I have a hard time saying no to the temptation of delicious food and sweets, but I can combat my lack of willpower with a good workout 5-6 days a week.  As much as I can say, 'oh but we're so busy, there is so much to do!', because of course, there is, the truth is you can get in a good workout in 30 minutes or less.  30 MINUTES!  So if you haven't become a gym junkie like me (seriously, it has gotten kind of silly, I get an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of my stomach if I don't go to the gym or go for a run everyday), maybe your goal is to get a solid 30 minute workout in at least 3 times a week throughout the month of December.

If you're interested, here are my goals for the month:
  • complete a 30 min (or greater) workout at least 5 times a week
  • run/walk at least 15 miles a week**
  • complete at least one solid strength workout a week
  • only gain between 0-2 pounds

Notice none of my goals are food related.  Like I said, for me personally, I know that is 100% my weakness.  Now I'm not planning on indulging in whatever I want whenever I want and going completely crazy off the deep end or anything, but I am also being realistic.  If I set a goal to only eat one sweet at a party, or to stay in my calorie budget a certain amount of days or something, I'm pretty sure I'd have more failures than successes.  But for the month of December I have started recording my food choices more diligently again.  I figured even if I wasn't trying to stick to a certain number or anything, seeing everything I'm putting in my mouth written down would keep me in check.

One tip I would have to combat overeating at parties... drink lots and lots of water.  Yes, I know a lot of you are like 'hey crazy chick, parties are for cocktails'.  Yes, I know, have some of those too if you want, but I have found that making myself drink 8-16 ounces of water before going back for seconds of something, either A) slows me down enough to make me realize I'm full, or B) at least slows me down in general.  I just grabbed a cookie from the dessert table?  Now I've got to drink a bottle of water before grabbing another one.

Hopefully some of the rambling was helpful to someone :o).   If you want some more tips on staying healthy and in check this holiday season, Megan over at Muncher Cruncher is posting a 12 day series of Holiday Healthy Tips.

**  Sorry Krissy and Kelly, I don't think this whole marathon thing is going to work out for me right now.  I think it is safe to say I'm a fair weather runner, and a morning runner, and in Kansas right now that would mean lacing up my shoes when it feels like 13 degrees outside.  I'll pass on that.  And I don't love the treadmill enough to put much more than 6.5 miles in at a time.

I do have hopes of running the Rock the Parkway half in April.  Who said they were probably doing that one??  Amy, was it you?  That would be fun :o).

What are your goals this month?

week in iphone pics

I am beyond excited for December.  Crafting, baking, shopping, family, friends, presents, food, fun... seriously, what isn't to love?  Yeah, sure, all of it will totally stress me out, but I'm still so giddy about it.  And we had a pretty good week.  I think Ryann is starting to love all this holiday business too (umm, because it means chocolate and fun activities... and chocolate).

sunday
iphonepics_11_27_11_Sunday

Sunday started off just as any Sunday should... browsing the ads :o).  Ryann of course perused the Toys 'R' Us flyer.  And can you see the cat in the second picture?  That is Nikki (or Mickey kitty if you're Ryann), my parents cat.  Ryann talks to her like they are friends.  No joke, she pushed that little shopping cart up to her and said, "Hey Mickey kitty, you like my shopping cart?"  While Ryann napped my mom and I got to work on my advent calendar.  My mom told me she is starting to get sick of MY 'easy' crafts that become her not so easy crafts.  Oops, sorry mom :o).  That evening Ryann and I trekked back home, Ryann was super excited to bust out her play-doh.

monday
iphonepics_11_27_11_Monday

Still haven't been able to make myself run outside in the cold.  I am due for a longer run.  My goal was 8 miles, but I just couldn't make myself stay on the treadmill that long.  Still not too shabby for a Monday morning.  Oh, I also learned that the gym treadmills automatically go into cool down mode after an hour.  Scared the crap out of me when the thing suddenly dropped down to 4 mph when I was finishing up with some 8 mph sprints.  Jenn and JT came over, and we bused out the play-doh again (I believe that will be a frequent theme this week... or month).  Oh, and Ryann was holding a grape up to her head and told me to say cheese.  She said it was her camera.  Whatever.  :o)  Ryann also loves to get out tons of books off her shelf for no good reason.

tuesday
iphonepics_11_27_11_Tuesday

Tuesday morning Ryann decided she wanted to wear a headband.  She said mommy had to wear one too.  You know you want to hang with us.  And yes, this is a picture of my kid sitting on the potty.  But the sight of her butt naked sitting on her potty seat with that headband on was cracking me up.  Plus she was being a total goofball.  For some reason Tuesday I was in a bit of a funk, so after the gym I lit some candles, cranked up the Christmas music and cleaned while Ryann baked me some play-doh brownies.

wednesday
iphonepics_11_27_11_Wednesday

Literally the first thing Ryann asked me for (even before her vitamins!) Wednesday morning was piggies.  It caught me off guard, and I had to oblige.  She absolutely adores the inflatable Santa at the gym.  So much so that she couldn't take her eyes off him while I was trying to take a picture.  One thing that has definitely not been lacking in our house this week, is toddler energy.  Seriously, she is going 100 mph nearly from the time she wakes up until I put her in the crib for nap and bedtime.  It is crazy.  And that awkward cheese face at Target?  She wanted me to make the elmo doll sing over and over and over again.  I said I would one more time if she would smile for a picture... uh, I guess I'll take it.

thursday
iphonepics_11_27_11_Thursday

Whenever Ryann sees her lunch box out, she picks it up and says "Bye!  I going to school!  Bye!"  Cracks me up.  While Ryann was at school Thursday I got an early Christmas present from my mom, a cleaning company came over and made my house squeaky clean while we went out and did some Christmas shopping.  Apparently it took Ryann a while to fall asleep for nap that day, because she was still out cold when we went to pick her up.  And was pretty out of it for the next half hour or so, poor sleepy baby!  She rallied and helped me get out some Christmas decorations, and surprise surprise, played with her play-doh.

friday
iphonepics_11_27_11_Friday

Friday morning I started on the treadmill with a quarter mile warm-up, and then ran a 5k in just about 27 minutes (I forgot to make a note of my start time, whoops).  I wish I had the drive to sign-up for a 5k to test my speed on a real road, but the fact that the high has only been 45 or less (meaning it is less than 40 at race start times!) has been incredibly discouraging.  Oh well, at least I know I AM getting faster!  After the gym we met up with Sarah and the twins for a little playdate at the mall.  How cute are they in awe of the carosuel?  Ryann got to ride it for the first time, and absolutely LOVED it.  Then we wandered a couple stores including the American Girl Doll Store.  She wanted to take all the bitty babies home with her.  That evening we got our craft on.  I decided a couple of paper 'gingers' would be the perfect holiday craft for Ryann.  Obviously I did most of the real work, but I put down glue for the pom balls and she picked her colors.  I like that a green one randomly popped up in both the rows.

saturday
iphonepics_11_27_11_Saturday

What did the advent calendar have on the agenda for us today?  Breakfast with Santa!  Sarah invited us to go with her and her sisters (hi Amy and Amber!) to a little holiday shindig at her XXXXXX's work.  Ryann got a balloon kitty (errrr it was supposed to be a kitty, but you really couldn't tell), a chocolate doughnut and even sat on Santa's lap.  After I bribed her with chocolate of course.  Bad mom, bad bad mom...  I think Ryann had a good time, and it was a fun little treat on a day that Chris had to work for 16 hours.  Thanks for inviting us Sarah!  When we got home Ryann inventoried her goody bag loot, and repeated over and over again, "Mommy says no more chocolate.  Noooo, no more chocolate."  And then would look at me with pleading eyes hoping I'd change my mind.  Sorry kiddo, no such luck.  Later she played with, duh, play-doh while I put together a pizza.  I used wheat pizza dough from Trader Joe's, it turned out pretty good!  And seeing as I made a giant pizza for Ryann and I, we have plenty of leftovers :o).

Has your December started off well?  I'm hoping all this fun continues!!

Linking up with our week by iphone and instaFriday.

crock pot hawiian bbq chicken

If you're on pinterest, I am certain you've seen this crock pot dish floating around (I saw it here and here).  I've mentioned it on the blog before as well.  The one problem I had with it, is that it didn't really seem like a complete meal to me, unless I made a vegetable side.  Also for some reason Ryann has something against chicken once it has been shredded.  Which led me to this...

crockpothawiianchicken

Basically I diced the chicken before adding it and threw in some chopped bell peppers, making it more of a one pot meal to serve over rice.  It makes great leftovers for lunch the next day.  If you have any ideas of other vegetables that would be good in the mix, definitely share in the comment section!

Oh, and obviously this is no longer the worlds simplest crockpot recipe, since you would actually have to cut up the chicken and chop the bell peppers (GASP!) but I swear, it was easy.  So easy I think I'll make that for dinner this week, it sounds good... and I did just buy frozen bell peppers from Trader Joes...

Crock Pot Hawiian BBQ Chicken

Ingredients
  • 1 package boneless skinless chicken breasts (mine had 3), cut into bite size pieces
  • 20 ounce can pineapple tidbits, drained
  • 2-3 bell peppers, chopped
  • 16 ounce bottle BBQ sauce
Directions
  1. Combine everything in your crockpot, cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours.  Serve over rice (we used brown).

Ta da!  That was simple.  And tasty.

Enjoy!

a bit of an overload...

A photo overload that is.  I missed my embrace the camera post on Thursday, partly because I wanted to put up Ry's 20 month post, and partly because I didn't have any recent pictures to use.  Today Ryann and I had a little mirror photo session, and even though I recently shared some like this, I'm posting some more.  Because it is my blog and I can :o).

For the record I had like 90 shots on my camera today.  So I spared you by only sharing 10.  You can thank me by bringing me a healthy home cooked meal.  I'm in a cooking rut.  Thanks.  :o)

Blogging may or may not be sporadic throughout the month.  I feel like it is going to get crazy and I don't want to make myself blog.  But who knows, I might have lots I want to share.  I just wanted to put it out there that I might not be around with any life altering content (HA!) this month.  Going to try and do my best to enjoy all of the fun this holiday season.

December 1, 2011

twenty months

How have we hit the twenties?  Oy.  In all honesty though, sometimes I already think of Ryann as two.  I don't know why.  She still has a good chunk of the year to go.  But I know it will fly by and she will be two before I know it.

A quick aside, we actually had an awesome little photo session Tuesday.  So good that I thought, well that wasn't so bad.  We should try that more often!  It might have been thanks to the promise of marshmallows.  I am not at all above bribery.  And marshmallows?  They can get that kid to do almost anything :o).  Moving on...

IMG_5367

I swear this kid has been growing like crazy.  The things she can reach surprise me daily (and remind me absolutely nothing dangerous, as in scissors, knives, candles, heavy objects, can be on the counters or tables).  While we were at my parents house on Saturday my mom cut up some bell pepper for Ryann to eat.  We were giving her one slice at a time and the rest was on the counter.  From out in the dining area Chris and I saw a chubby little hand reach up and try to snag the entire plate.  She would have been successful had papa not been close by.  I can't wait to see how tall she will be by her two year appointment.

IMG_5417

I've started buying mostly 2T tops and leggings (seeing as she doesn't need any more clothes anyway so if I want her to get a chance to wear them they will have to last well into the spring), but 18-24 month still fits her best.  Especially in dresses.  I swear they make dresses twice as big as they make shirts.  Oh well.  She needs a size 5.5-6 shoe, and is in a size 5 diaper.  And finally, all of her teeth (except the two year molars) are in!  I don't think the pointy ones have quite come down all the way, but I also don't think they are causing her trouble anymore.

We're dipping our toes into potty training (hopefully not in the potty, but you never know what this kid will do...).  I still don't feel like she is quite ready to jump into underwear, but she is incredibly successful at going every time she tries.  Just not keeping her diapers dry at all.  I think I'll let her explore the idea for another month or two, and hopefully have her in underwear throughout the day before she is two.  Then again, if she resists, I don't really mind at all yet.  There are some things that are just so much easier because she is in diapers, I think anyway... traveling, running errands, letting her stay in her crib for 30 minutes in the morning if she wakes up at an unacceptable hour :o)...  On that note, a somewhat silly question... where do you find cute underwear that isn't plastered with characters for a toddler?  We peeked at Target yesterday and all I saw in the 2T size was Dora, My Little Pony, Yo Gabba Gabba... we don't watch those shows and I would prefer something like stripes and polka dots anyway.

IMG_5277
I'm pretty sure this is the awkward cheese smile I get when she has had ENOUGH!

Ryann is so funny, sometimes she is a crazy ball of energy that absolutely can't sit still (the other night she was running laps around the family room, not saying a word, not playing with Chris or I, just literally doing laps), and other times she gets so enthralled with a toy (or her new love, play-doh) that she can sit and concentrate for an hour.  No joke, she has sat with her play-doh for over an hour on three different occasions.  And only stops because I BEG her to come eat her lunch or dinner.  The other thing that she can do forever is take things out of boxes and put them back.  Not really sure why she loves it so much, but if she finds a box full of like objects that have to be put back in some sort of orderly fashion, she will dump the objects out and put them back over and over and over and over and over... you get the idea.

One of the most exciting things for me this month, brace yourself, is this kid eats REAL food.  As in food that didn't come out of a Gerber container.  As in meals that I prepare for Christopher and I.  Of course she doesn't always eat what we give her, but she almost always tries it.  And she'll eat almost anything if you promise her a bite of bread.  Ryann still wants to dip almost everything in ketchup, but I'll let that one slide.  What I can't figure out, is why my bread and cracker loving kid hates noodles and rice.  I'm sure she'll learn to love them eventually.  Vegetables still sit at the bottom of her list as far as foods she likes are concerned, and cake/candy/sweets would most definitely be at the top.  But I think she is really starting to get a more balanced and healthy diet from real food.  Squee!

IMG_5392

Ryann's vocabulary and language comprehension continues to soar.  For example, a recent exchange between her and I...

Me:  [Attempts to sneak a mini twix bar from our candy jar.  Fails miserably on the quiet front.]
Ryann:  "What's Mommy having?"
Me: [mumbling with a mouth full of chocolate] "Um, nothing."
Ryann:  "A muffin?  Mommy have a muffin?"
Me:  "No, I said nothing."
Ryann:  [obviously not buying it]  "Hey, what's mommy having?"
Me:  "Err.... umm... chocolate."
Ryann:  "Oh... Ryann wants some chocolate too."

Damn.  Can't get anything by that kid :o).  Seriously though.  She can pretty much have a full conversation with you.  She will ask if she doesn't understand.  And she asks a lot of questions... who's that, what's that noise, what is she doing, what song is that, etc.  I'm just thankful we haven't made it to the 'why' stage yet.

IMG_5359

I'm pretty sure Ryann is always talking or singing or making noise these days.  It is incredibly rare for her to be absolutely silent.  She can sing lots and lots of songs, I am certain she can sing all of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, the ABCs, Pat-a-Cake Pat-a-Cake, Rock-a-by Baby, Row Row Row Your Boat, and Baa Baa Black Sheep.  Those are just the ones I hear her singing to herself while she plays.  But I wouldn't be surprised if she can sing several more than that all by herself.

IMG_5422
She spotted the moon (it was about 4pm).  "Mommy, the moon woke up!"

Ryann can now name a word for almost every letter of the alphabet.  Such as A is for Apple, B is for Ball.  Sometimes she surprises us with words that we haven't mentioned.  It was incredibly cute when she told me Y was for yogurt melts, that impressed me.  But my favorite was one day when she was playing and mumbling to herself she said, "O... O... O is for oofda."  I think all Norwegians out there should be proud of that one :o).  She can also identify all of the letters by their sound, as in, I can say 'ah ah' and she will say A!  Buh Buh... B!  I am working on the reverse now, asking her to tell me what sound a letter makes.  That is a little bit tougher, and each time it takes several examples from me before she catches on, but we are getting there.

IMG_5302_2

I think her days in a crib are becoming numbered, and that makes me cringe.  Partly because I think seeing her sleep in a big girl bed will turn me into a big sappy mess, and partly because, well, I like sleep and I don't want to lose any of it :o).  We put Ryann in a 'time out' (thus far time out doesn't work at all.  she doesn't get it, and I don't know how to explain it, whatever...) in the pack-n-play at my parents house when she was being a little irrational and hard to deal with.  Chris and I stepped out of the room, and immediately heard her grunting and making other odd noises.  When we peeked in she had one leg completely over the side, but hadn't figured out how to pull herself all the way up.  The other day I caught her trying to climb out of her crib after nap, but it is a bit taller and I don't think she can make it just yet.

The good news is I haven't seen any attempts at all to get out when I first lay her down for nap or bedtime.  She just lays there, rolls around, and goes to sleep.  It is only when she wakes up and decides it is play time that she stands up and contemplates her escape.  I just really can't imagine her sleeping in a regular bed, or rather not being caged in.  Ryann rolls all over the place, both when she is awake and when she is asleep.  I know eventually she will learn not to fall out, but I have a feeling it will take her a bit.

IMG_5364

Things Ryann is loving right now:  Her 'ginger' pajamas.  Seriously, she asks for them every other night.  Blocks.  She loves to build towers and castles and houses.  Little People toys.  Still a favorite, they are her little buddies and they go on all sorts of make believe adventures.  Play-doh.  Courtesy of Grandma 'Nita, Ryann can't get enough of it right now.  I hide it every night so it isn't the first thing she asks for in the morning.  Books.  She went through a phase were she couldn't sit still for me to read them, now she'll pick one and make me read it a million times in a row.  Currently she obsessed with 10 Fat Turkeys.  I hide that one at the bottom of the book basket every night too.  She always finds it.

IMG_5379

Ryann's personality is infectious.  I can't truly explain it.  Of course she has her typical toddler moments and tantrums, but when she is happy?  She is so happy.  And bubbly.  And witty.  And clever.  And spunky.  And curious.  And... she truly is amazing.  Every night I go to bed exhausted, she is a tornado of energy and a roller coaster of emotions.  But while I lay there drifting off to sleep, I smile thinking of her and our day together.  She warms my heart and brightens my soul and I am so incredibly blessed that God chose me to be her mommy.

IMG_5318

Ryann, my little princess pie, I love you to the moon and back.  Don't ever forget that.
