a day in the life - lindsay

Morning!  First off, if you want to read a little something from me today, I'm sharing how I would spend an extra $200 on decorating over at Nikki's Nacs.  Be sure to check it out and let me know what you think!

For today's installment of 'a day in the life' I'd like to introduce you to Lindsay.  I hope you enjoy getting a little peek into her day!

***

Hi there, I'm Lindsay from lalalovely. I'm a lover to one, mother to two type of girl. Aaron and I have been married for four years now. Our daughter Ellie is two and a half years old & our son Grant is eight months old. I write about our journey through life as well as my domestic passions - adoption, breastfeeding, cloth diapering, homemade baby food. I work as a substitute teacher (pre-k through grade 5) but most days I stay home with my kids.

our most recent family photo - grant was 12 days new

I'm pretty excited to be sharing a typical (Wednes)day in my life with you over here at The Domestic Wannabe.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

12:32 am Lights out. I stayed up late to finish folding some laundry while watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix. I'll have to put it away later, since most of it belongs to the kiddos. Let the record show that I prefer to be in bed by 11, at the latest. I'm an old lady.
7:45 am Aaron kisses me good bye. I realize that Grant slept through the night. Awesome, little buddy!

8:00 am I wake up and hear Ellie over the monitor. The words "help" and "poop" ring loud and clear and I make a mad dash to her bedroom. I do her hair while she sits and reads on the potty. She puts on her big girl pants and gets dressed for the day.

8:26 am While Ellie is getting dressed, I hear Grant starting to wake up next door. The kids have a jack and jill bathroom - the bedrooms are joined together by a shared bathroom. We head over to get the baby up. I absolutely love when Grant wakes up, no matter the time of day/night. He scrambles to the corner of the crib that faces the door and waits for someone to rescue him.

I spend the next half-hour looking for my damn pants. I know that I came across them in the clean clothes last night. I go through the basket item by item and still can't find them. I finally pick out a different pair of pants. I get dressed and braid my bangs.
I feed Ellie a bowl of cereal after talking her out of peanut butter crackers. She is usually a great eater, but has changed her habits recently. I can't figure out it she is just asserting her independence or what. I make myself a cup of coffee and have some greek yogurt for breakfast. I make a quick dash outside to dump out the bathroom trash bag and to check car for Grant's missing shoe. I find the shoe and run back in to check on the kids. I grab the kitchen trash bag and the dogs so they can go outside to do their business. (Aaron feeds them in the morning before he leaves for work.)
When I come back in, I put Grant in the high chair with some puffs. Nursing will have to wait - depending on his attention span, it can take up to an hour and we've got to leave soon for our play date. The dogs go in their kennel and I load the car.

Mom mom. Eyes hurt. Me need sunnies.

9:41 am We finally leave for our play date. My Mom is a nanny for a single child. We go over there every Wednesday to play with Sophia (3 years old) for a few hours and have lunch together.
10:16 am We arrive at Sophia's house. They're playing in the driveway with some chalk and Sophia is excited to see her "new friend." Ellie is excited to see Gigi and "Wee-ah." Mom takes Grant for me and I unload the car.
10:20 am I finally sit down to nurse Grant. Leaking. It's been 14 hours since I fed him last night.

Sans make-up. Keepin' it real, yo. (Does anyone say that anymore?)

10:34 am Grant has decided there are better things to do than hang with Mama. We do a quick diaper change and then head outside to play with the girls. The girls were playing in the driveway with chalk, but now are playing in the backyard. They go from the swings to playing kick ball to chasing each other. Ellie and Sophia aren't keen on sharing.

11:05 am Sophia wants to tell Ellie that it is time for a tea party, but Ellie keeps running away from her, trying to protect the kick ball. Grant is playing with me on the patio.

11:17 am Ellie wants to have a tea party now, so we clean up the yard and head inside. She sits down with Sophia and they share some Goldfish crackers and kiwi fruit. Their tea cups are filled with "pink milk." Grant's wheels are turning - what trouble can he get into this week? Last week he chewed up Sophia's Dad's Sports Illustrated magazine. Oops! I feed Grant a dish of homemade applesauce and a small banana.
12:30 pm I made a quick run to the local pizzeria for our lunch. I grab a small dish of raspberry lemonade gelato for a treat too. When I get back, Ellie says she doesn't want any pizza. That girl must be feeling sick! She asks for pizza at least once a day! Grant on the other hand is under the table gnawing on the chair legs. Sometimes he acts like a little rodent. He is loudly protesting the fact that I am eating and not sharing with him.
12:58 pm I take the girls to the potty and then pick up Grant to go nurse. He is tired and hungry.
1:20 pm I smell poop but the girls are in the bathroom with Gigi. I change the baby's diaper and then sit back down to nurse while the girls go for a short walk around the neighborhood.

When they get back, we load up the strollers and take a two-mile walk. We get back home at 2:08 pm. Grant is asleep and Ellie wants to play.

I start packing up the car to go home and do a once-over to make sure we haven't left anything behind. I put Grant in his seat and tell Ellie to say goodbye. Oh my. The floodgates open and Ellie throws a huge fit. I struggle for a very long time to get her into the car. She was arching her back and pinching my arms. By the time we get to the highway (2:42 pm), she finally relaxes. I turn on the lullaby CD and the kids get quiet. They both fall asleep about 10 minutes from home.
3:12 pm I grab the mail on the way into our neighborhood and drive home. I unload the car first, then carry in the sleeping kiddos and place them in bed.
4:30 pm Grant's diaper has leaked and he's upset about it. I change his diaper and put him in pajamas. We snuggle into the rocking chair and he sleepily nurses for a while. When he is finished, I let him play in the living room while I get a few things scheduled for the blog.

Ellie wakes at 5:49 pm. I hate to let her sleep so late, but she needed it. (Normally, nap time is 1-3 o'clock or so.) Grant is ready for his dinner and Ellie asks for pizza. WHEW! Guess she's not sick after all. Aaron walks in at 5:57 pm. I warm up a slice for Ellie and get some baby food out of the freezer. Grant is having pumpkin and apples for dinner.

6:34 pm I make another cup of coffee for myself. I stare at the cold pizza and then decide to have one piece. (We don't normally have pizza for lunch and dinner. It just so happened that we had enough left over from lunch that when I brought it home Ellie & Aaron decided it was good for dinner.)

6:44 pm Ellie helps Aaron feed the dogs. We believe that she is also a master to the dogs, so she gives them the commands - sit, wait, eat. Afterwards, Aaron plays with the kids in the living room. Ellie gets to watch one episode of The Backyardigans.
I have a lot of cleaning to get done. We'll be gone everyday for the rest of the week. I have an interview/play date on Saturday morning when we get home from swim lessons. Everything needs to be done beforehand. I usually like to zone clean, but that's not going to work this week.
8:09 pm I finish putting all the books away and then change Grant's sheets. Aaron takes Ellie to the potty and changes the baby's diaper. I sit down to nurse and Aaron helps Ellie pick up her toys. She is good at so many things, but putting her toys away is not one of them. Aaron completes Ellie's bedtime routine - potty, brush teeth, pajamas, read, prayers, kisses.
9:08 pm Grant is asleep. Aaron and I kiss him good night. I lay him in his crib and then put a load of laundry in the washer. I sit down and watch The Office on Netflix with Aaron.
11:05 pm We're out of episodes so I switch the laundry over to the dryer and then do a load of dishes. I check my email and Facebook before bed.

12:33 am I brush my teeth and climb into bed. I've really got to stop going to bed on the same day that I'm going to wake up!

1. What is the most surprising thing about being a mom? Love is the most surprising thing for me as a mama. There have always been people in my life that I have loved, but the love for a child feels nothing like that. It is an amazing experience that is unique to the individual. My love for Ellie feels very different from the love I have for Grant. My kids get hundreds of hugs, kisses and "I love yous" every day. I never want them to question or doubt that I love them.
2. What advice would you give to new or soon-to-be moms? Cherish every moment, even the not-so-picture-perfect ones! Ellie taught us to be present in the moment and to cherish every minute of every day. We were so afraid that we would lose our battle in court and not get the chance to be her mama and daddy. Our time, whether it was just for today or forever with her was a gift. When Grant came along, I knew what a blessing is was to finally be pregnant. I knew that the days of colic were dark, but I knew someday we would make it through and we'd look back and think, "It wasn't so bad." Some days I wish for another child, but I know that I need to be thankful for the two I have.
3. What are your top three baby products?
  • Moby Wrap - Grant was a big baby (10 pounds 3 ounces and 23 inches long at birth)! My Moby not only helped lug him around but it was the only thing that got him calmed down during his bout with colic. We absolutely loved the closeness that it provided, I was able to nurse in it and get some chores down around the house in those early days.
  • bumGenius Elemental Cloth Diapers - We chose to cloth diaper Grant and these have been my favorite diapers. They're all-in-one so you just slap it on like a disposable.
  • Magic Bullet - Okay, so this isn't traditionally a baby product, but I make my own baby food purees. You could technically use any food processor or blender for the task, but this is what I have on hand thanks to my mother-in-law that is addicted to buying infomercial crap. (I don't personally recommend shelling out the money to buy the blenders specifically targeted for making baby food, because you can't use them for anything but baby food.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me know if you've documented a life in your day, I'd love to see it. Be sure to stop over at my blog to say hello...I'd love to meet you! Thanks so much for following me through my day. And a special thanks to Ashley for allowing me to share!

Thank you, Lindsay, for sharing your day with us!

this and that

I'm glad you guys enjoy my little 'this and that' posts.  Sometimes they really are the most fun to write.  All of the mess that has been swirling around in my brain gets to plop out for all to see.  Clears my head and helps me find solutions to random problems all at the same time.  Not too mention they find a place for other random tidbits and photos that don't really need an entire post on their own.

I apologize that this randomness is coming to you later in the day, I opted to eat ice cream (frozen yogurt) and watch the Sing Off last night as opposed to being productive.  Mature, I know.  And sorry if this offends anyone but I am so over Afro Blue.  Seriously.  Bring the Yellow Jackets back, or Vocal Point, or heck even Delilah.  They weren't going to win but were WAY more entertaining.  In my opinion of course.  Moving on...

::  First up, of course, the winner of the My Memories Suite giveaway...

Congrats!  Get me your contact information and I will give you a code to download your software!

::  My child.  Oh my goodness.  Seriously, I wish you all could see her in action.  (I am being a very biased proud mama right now, but whatever)  She is so smart and so funny.  Yes, she is exhausting and literally threw a hysterical crying five minute fit because the cat sat on my lap (we are screwed when we have another kid).  But this morning she carefully navigated through a large group of kids at the gym saying "Eh-SCUSE me guys.  Excuse me.  Excuse me guys" the whole way.  And at breakfast this morning she told me my toast looked like a dinosaur after I'd taken a few bites.  Yesterday she deemed the park the jungle.

Also, she is 100% into being my little helper right now.  I was trying to clean the kitchen while she finished her breakfast this morning, and she freaked out, "Get down help mommy clean!  All done with breakfast.  Get down help mommy clean!"  So cute.  She also has to put her toys away before moving onto something else.  Definitely a good thing, but not something I was enforcing or anything.  Last night when I said it was time for bath she started to go, but turned around and started putting all her toys away.  I was amazed.

::  Today during lunch I randomly decided I think I want to paint my kitchen table blue.  I think we spent $300 on the table at Crate and Barrel four years ago, and the top has definitely seen better days.  I know I need to do something about it, so today I thought, why not blue?  I'm in the mood to bring in more color to my house, get rid of the sea of dark brown.  But I'm not sure I would love a blue table in there.  What are your thoughts?  I found one semi inspiration photo on pinterest...

photo on the left via here, photo on the right is my dining room!

::  We had some family photos taken yesterday by the lovely Adrienne Maples.  I can't wait to see them, and I can't wait to get started on our holiday cards!  I swear I will NOT wait until the last minute this year (our cards may have gone out around New Years last year, whatever).  But I suppose I'm already pushing it aren't I?  Thanks to my little Elevated Envelope experience (did I ever mention Tara picked mine as one of her favorites?  See the post here...) I really want to do something fun on the outside as well as the inside.  In theory I could get started, but I feel like I need to pick a photo first...

::  My house smells like chili.  Because there is chili in the crockpot.  My house doesn't randomly smell like chili... maybe this time around I'll actually remember to take a picture of it and share the recipe.  I also have a recipe for crockpot beef stew that I need to pass along.  My love for my crockpot is becoming absurd, you have no idea.  If you want to leave me your absolute favorite crockpot recipe I would be happy to peek at it!  :)

:: Is there seriously no one in the KC area that would do the Great Santa 5K Run with me on December 4th?  Please?  Please?!?!?  I know, I could just go by myself, but that isn't a ton of fun.  I don't necessarily want to drag Christopher and Ryann out there (although it does say they will have the best race breakfast in town... hmm...).  It is just a 5K.  You know you want to!

::  Some pictures that I want to share... Ryann is the happiest and goofiest when she is eating.  Not too mention she is sitting still.  So I tend to have lots of pictures of her at the table...

half marathon training plan

Make sure to check out the My Memories Suite giveaway.  The giveaway will close tonight and a winner will be announced tomorrow!

Several people have e-mailed me asking what plan I used for my half marathon training.  As I've mentioned before I based my training on Hal Higdon's novice training plan.  When I originally started training I was planning on having 17 weeks, so I didn't increase my mileage as quickly in the beginning.  I wanted to build a strong running base since I wasn't used to running quite that many miles in a week.  Thankfully it ended up working out, and I survived the half with only 14 weeks of training, and my higher mileage only coming in the last few weeks.  I figured since more than one person had asked for specifics, I'd be nice and lay the training plan I followed out for you.

This may not be EXACTLY what I did, but it was what was on my calendar.  I usually did another light strength workout sometime during the week, but nothing major for my legs, mostly arms.  Circuit refers to a circuit aerobics class I took at my gym.  Higdon's plan calls for cross training that day, but I figured since it was a circuit class I was getting an endurance workout along with my strength.  As far as running miles, I always tried to make sure I actually RAN the miles listed, but also included a warm-up and cool down walk, making my mileage at least .5 miles more for each workout.  I switched my rest days from Fridays to Thursdays, because the back to back days of running was starting to take a toll on my joints.

Also, even though none of these workouts are listed as speed workouts of any sort, because the majority of my shorter (weekday) runs were done on the treadmill I messed with speed a lot just to keep myself entertained.  I believe that is why I went from averaging a 10:30 pace in the beginning, to a 9:14 pace the day of the race.

(click the image to make it larger)

Remember, I am by no means an expert!  I did not start 'running' until March of this year.  I had zero clue what I was getting myself into.  I just googled half marathon training plans and picked the one I thought looked the most doable.  From there I tweaked it a bit to fit my schedule and my personal fitness level.

To tell you the truth, I'm kind of happy I ended up running the race when I did.  I think another three weeks of training would have stressed my body, and I was starting to get a wee bit burnt out.  But having the training plan/something to train for really held me accountable.   Right now I really really REALLY need something to focus on again.  A couple people are trying to persuade me to run the Georgia Marathon in March (cough cough Krissy and Kelly), but I'm not sure I have the time to fit all the training in, not to mention I don't know if I could physically make it there.  Chris will be working and my dad has a business trip, so it would be just me, my mom and Ryann.  Not really the ideal situation when I'm trying to accomplish a marathon.

We'll see though.  I'm going to start following one of the Hal Higdon marathon training plans, most likely Novice 2.  The only thing I'm really worried about?  The last couple times I've run I haven't been able to make it farther than 3 miles straight without feeling like I was going to die (aka stomach issues, boo).  I need to take a look at my diet and see what is giving me the trouble, probably um, too much chocolate or something.  I've gotten really bad with the chocolate again... The other problem is I've been running later in the day because of the colder morning temps (that is if I get the opportunity to run outside).  I'm sure that is messing with me a bit, I am definitely a morning runner.  But I hate the cold...

week in iphone pics

SUNDAY
iphonepics_11_06_11_Sunday

Ryann was pretty pumped about her motorcycle boots.  Here papa rides a motorcycle so anything I tell her is motorcycle related is pretty awesome.  She took off her hat and put it back on by herself... she didn't see why this style wasn't right.  A cute little filler picture because I didn't take very many.  Grammy and papa were in Georgia for almost two weeks so we talked to them on the computer a lot.

MONDAY
iphonepics_11_06_11_Monday

We had a little playdate with JT.  Of course I couldn't get the two of them to sit still long enough to get a 'good' picture, so that will have to do.  Ryann gave him the cold shoulder most of the time while he was over, but stood at the door forever after they left telling him to come back.  And yes, my daughter is special.  I'm not sure why she thinks it is a great idea to play with a bucket on her head.  It took her a while to fall asleep for nap, and then she slept until after 5pm.  She was a wee bit groggy when she woke up, but rallied and ran around the house with beads on for quite some time.  And of course, always happy when daddy is home in the evenings.

TUESDAY
iphonepics_11_06_11_Tuesday

Skeleton jammies and beads at 7am.  Just how your morning starts too right?  Eventually we got ready to brave the chilly morning and head to the gym.  On the way home we had to make a pit stop at the grocery store to grab some ingredients for dinner.  And this little munchkin, I am always catching her in the pantry lately.  She'll run off and find herself a little snack.  And our snack containers are absolutely not child proof apparently.  That day she thought it was really funny to try and sit in the pantry.  Oh, and Tuesday was pretty epic.  She ate the same dinner that Chris and I ate.  Score.

WEDNESDAY
iphonepics_11_06_11_Wednesday

We (I) opted to go to the gym a little later than usual, so we spent the morning playing at home.  Apparently the potty seat makes a good chair for sitting and eating your snack while mommy fixes her hair...  I'm not sure what her goofy face was for, but I loved her outfit that day.  Such a cute little sweater coat from Old Navy.  I got a fabulous little package in the mail, I won't spill all the details until Friday, but get excited :o).  We were super goofy during lunch.  And apparently Ryann was a little crazy in her crib during nap, seeing as I found her mid strip when she woke up.

THURSDAY
iphonepics_11_06_11_Thursday

Thursday = mommy days.  And today instead of spending six hours cleaning and doing laundry, I went shopping :o).  Found a fun teal coat I love from Forever 21, only $28!  Score.  The reason I went to the mall was to see if I could really figure out what we are wearing for pictures.  Between the few things I bought and everything I pulled out of our closets I had a few options.  Go figure I still couldn't come up with something I really liked.  Thursday evening I gave Ryann a little pedicure.  She had a tough time deciding which color she wanted.

FRIDAY
iphonepics_11_06_11_Friday

Friday we packed up and headed to grammy's house.  What is a must when we get to grammy's?  Grocery shopping of course.  After nap we headed to the florist shop that my mom used to work at.  We wanted to let Ryann see all the Christmas trees and decorations, because she was so excited about the ones at Target earlier in the week.  Her eyes were giant and her mouth was in a little 'o' most of the time we were there.  I can't wait for the holidays :o).  Oh, and apparently Ryann needs to work on her picnic etiquite.  She thought you were supposed to sit right in the middle of the blanket on all the food.

SATURDAY
iphonepics_11_06_11_Saturday

My little buddy helped me put on my make-up.  Slowly but surely she is becoming my little mini me.  I love it.  Still working on the photo shoot clothing situation.  Ryann played the piano with papa.  She also looked a wee bit confused about her bubble bath, but enjoyed it nonetheless.

Linking up with Amy!

my memories suite {giveaway}

***  this giveaway is closed  ***

Towards the end of middle school I got pretty into scrapbooking.  Well my first album was pretty sad and pathetic looking, but throughout high school and the first year of college I printed tons of pictures, bought tons of paper and embellishments and scraped my little heart out.  I LOVE looking back at all of those memories.  I think the scrapbook presentation makes them seem very personal.

But... it was time consuming.  And if you've ever worked on a scrapbook, man, you know the mess you can make.  Tons of paper everywhere, pictures, scraps, glue, the list goes on and on.  I could spend a long time working, make a huge mess, and only be done with one or two spreads.  I got annoyed with getting everything out and putting it away over and over again.  I'm pretty sure the scrapbook I have for my senior year of college has zero spreads, just empty pages with a stack of photos slipped in the sleeve waiting to be worked on.

What could possibly be a solution to this problem?  Why technology of course.  I was contacted by a representative at My Memories, asking me to review their digital scrapbooking software, My Memories Suite.  I'll admit at first I was a bit skeptical.  For one, scrapbooking hasn't really been my 'thing' for quite some time.  Also, I have the entire Adobe Creative Suite.  I have plenty of technology at my fingertips for organizing my photos and memories in an aesthetically pleasing way.  But I was happily surprised by the software.  Less than 20 minutes after opening the software I created this little number:

mymemoriesgiveawaypage

Ok so it is a bit short of spectacular.  But did I mention I did it in less than 20 minutes?  The software is fairly easy to navigate, and several parts of it operate quite similarly to my beloved design software.  I am a type junky, and as far as I can tell I didn't have as much control over letter or line spacing as I would personally like, BUT I think the software is excellent for creating a scrapbook on the computer.

The software comes with some cute papers and embellishments, and currently there are 93 free paper or embellishment kits listed online.  Other kits are available for purchase in the online store ranging in price from $0.99 to roughly $8.  When you start an album, you can make something completely from scratch, or you can use a fully designed page set as a template.  There seems to be nearly endless possibilities.

There are also several options for what to do when you finish an album.  You can print the pages off and put them in a scrapbook, have your album professionally printed and bound, or you can make an interactive digital album to save to a disc or even an ipod ready video.  Sounds like fun right?

Lucky for you I am giving away one copy of the My Memories Suite software.  To enter the giveaway visit the My Memories website and tell me your favorite digital paper pack.  For additional entries you can become a follower of the My Memories blog, like My Memories on facebook or like The Domestic Wannabe on facebook.  Please leave a separate comment for each entry.

The giveaway will be open until 10:00pm CST on Monday, November 14th.  A winner will be announced Tuesday, November 15th.

If you want to just go ahead and buy yourself a copy of the software, use the code STMMMS38572 at checkout to receive $10 off the My Memories Suite software and a $10 coupon to the My Memories store.

peanut butter & banana chocolate chip cookies

I love baking.  I love having sweet treats around (well I don't, because then I eat them, and that isn't good for maintaining weight loss, but whatever).  I love giving Ryann a little treat because it makes her so happy.  BUT, I also don't want to give her loads of sugar all the time, not to mention I don't need it myself.

I'm pretty sure Melissa pinned something similar to this a while back, or made it, or something.  Or maybe that is all in my head.  But pinterest was being stupid on me again so I can't find out for sure.  I saw them again last week and decided it was a great way to use up our browning bananas.

peanutbutterbananacookies

For a sugar free, egg free and potentially gluten free recipe (if you want it to be gluten free make sure you use gluten free oats) these cookies are amazing.  And pretty dang good for an oatmeal cookie in general  We gobbled up our batch pretty quickly.  I also felt that a couple of them were a satisfying snack for me after a workout.

The original recipe suggests using chocolate chunks, which I think would be delicious, but we didn't have any.  It also called for creamy peanut butter, but I used chunky.  I like the crunchy nuts in there.  Lastly I didn't add any of the optional coconut either, because we didn't have any, but I'd be interested to try it.  Oh, ok also I ended up with a mix of milk chocolate and dark chocolate chips because my chocolate chip stash was almost gone, but I think it would be fine with semisweet, best with all dark chocolate.

Peanut Butter & Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies
slightly adapted from Babble's 'The Family Kitchen'

Ingredients
  • 3 large, very ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup chunky all-natural peanut butter (or regular peanut butter, whatever you've got)
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups old-fashioned (large flake) or quick oats
  • 1/3 cup shredded coconut (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl mash the bananas with the peanut butter, oil and vanilla.  In another bowl stir together the oats, coconut, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.  Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients along with the chocolate and stir until combined.
  3. Droop spoonfuls of dough onto a parchment or Silpat lined baking sheet, or one that is sprayed with nonstick spray, and bake for 12-14 minutes, until just set.  Makes about 2 1/2 dozen cookies.

For the record, I only got 20 cookies.  Maybe I made mine really big?  I have no idea.  They definitely weren't huge.

Enjoy!

embrace the camera

The other evening when I dragged Christopher (and therefore Ryann) outside to take pictures for my workout gear post, I decided to have him snap a few of Ryann and I as well.  Yes my hair is in a ponytail, and yes I'm wearing a workout top.  But those times when I'm not 'perfect' for pictures?  Those are the times we seem to have the happiest baby.  I love these.

Recently Ryann has been offering up a lot more love, and will frequently give me smooches when I ask.  The latest one we've been working on?  The cheek grab and kiss.  Oh my goodness, when her little hands awkwardly grab my cheeks and she plants a big wet one on me?  My heart melts.  Every. Single. Time.  I love these little tidbits of affection from her.

And this little lady?  She seems like a different girl the past couple of days.  Yes she is still a strong willed toddler.  But I think getting over being sick + her teeth possibly not causing tons and tons of pain + starting to sleep better (probably because of the two reasons I just mentioned) has greatly improved her overall mood.  Which in turn obviously improves mine.

All in all it has been a much needed easy going happy week around here.
