is it overkill...

... to have ruffle curtains in Ry's room, and a ruffle shower curtain in my bathroom?

We repainted the bathroom and I got a shower curtain shortly after we moved into our house. After bringing home 7 shower curtains I settled on this one:


And probably less than a month later I decided I hated it. My bathroom doesn't look horrible, but it isn't fun. It seems a little, um, old? Boring? Blah? I don't know. I figure, it is two young girls (ok me and a baby, whatever) sharing this bathroom. It should be a little more fun right? At least a bit of a brighter blue if nothing else.

I saw these shower curtains on Anthropologie's site a while back, and have been mildly in love with them. The price tag is a bit hard to stomach for a shower curtain though...




And then, go figure, I log on to blogger this morning to find this image on my reader thanks to House of Turquoise:


Which makes me think I NEED that shower curtain. Chris was going to buy me a right hand ring for my birthday, and we never settled on one I liked... maybe I should get a shower curtain instead? :o)

Any thoughts?

babysitting.

I think babysitting my printer is almost as much work as taking care of my baby. I am on to some invites, which are a little less work to print than the programs, but still require babysitting nonetheless. Luckily Ry has been taking great naps these past couple days so I can get some work done. Too bad my to do list is a mile long... and the only things I want to check off are 'write a blog post' and 'upload pics to facebook'. Don't judge.

My girl turned 10 weeks old yesterday. 10 WEEKS! Has it really been 10 weeks since she was born. Has it only been 10 weeks? I'm not sure which part sounds crazier.

Oh and thanks for teaching me to rotate my videos. It is much appreciated! (And maybe if I had spent five minutes trying to figure it out last time it would have happened. Oh well.)

And back to loading paper. Sigh.

this and that

My printer and I have a love hate relationship. We are currently deep in the middle of one of the hate phases. Therefore I am sitting here babysitting my printer while I attempt to make 200 wedding programs. Which means... I am blogging some tidbits in my 90 second intervals between pushing print for each of the 200 programs, and loading paper one sheet at a time. Joy.

:: Ry and JT had another play date. I thought Ry was doing great gaining weight, but at 13 pounds, I think he has her beat.

:: I wish I wasn't babysitting my printer so I could make something delicious for dinner, instead of ordering pizza. But then again, who am I kidding, pizza is pretty tasty. But I do feel like cooking, mostly appetizers. I'm not sure why :o).

:: My small collection of babylegs arrived in the mail on Friday. I'm in love :o)

:: Seriously, this is a total daddy's girl. She lights up when she sees him. I have also discovered that she doesn't nap as well when he is home, which makes me think that she would rather hang out with her daddy than sleep.

:: I'm in the mood for a trip to HomeGoods. Not that I really have any money to blow on home accessories, but I'd love to at least browse and dream.

:: We started practicing sitting in the bumbo this week. She only lasts about three minutes before her head gets way to heavy for her, but she tries so hard, and often seems pretty amused to be sitting up.

:: I really want to put up a backsplash in our kitchen. We are planning to at some point, but I think I want to make it happen sooner rather than later. My first choice would be some sort of glass tile, but I don't know what kind, plus that could add up. White subway tile would work, but that would be a lot of white. Anyone have any suggestions?

There are many more random tidbits that I could share, but I have a feeling you're getting bored with me. Plus it is hard to focus when I keep switching back and forth between inDesign and the internet. Guess I'll just have to browse etsy!

too bright?

I was really tired of the brown (that probably looked like baby poop on most of your screens) but this might be a little much. Any thoughts?

Are you so proud that I was super quick with this? (I went with pretty simple changes, and today I am working on printing invites + Ry is napping well, so I had time.)

beautify your blog

So I would consider myself a computer savvy girl. I can generally figure out how to do something on a PC or a Mac (though I am an extreme Apple advocate :o). But for some reason creating things on the web and html baffle me. I somewhat understand how it works and what not, but I'm just not good at it, I think partly because usually when I am learning how to create things on the web, is isn't directed specifically to what I'm doing exactly, so I don't pay attention. Bad me, I know.

But this morning as I was going through my daily blog reads I popped onto the DIY Showoff to take a peak at the kitchen reno she was featuring. It happened to also include a link to Bambina Babe's posts on how to beautify your blog. I can't wait to give some of them a try!

So... if the blog looks screwy over the next few days please forgive me. You know I'm not always the quickest chick around!

chicken and green beans

For dinner the other night we made general tso's chicken and and green bean stir fry. I was incredibly skeptical about the green beans, because there was peanut butter in the recipe. Yes, peanut butter is use in multiple asian dishes, but for some reason peanut butter mixed with green beans just seemed wrong. I'm so glad we tried it because they were delicious! The chicken was good too, nothing extraordinary, but good enough!

Both recipes were extremely easy. For the chicken recipe (and this is probably why it didn't wow me, my fault) we used canned minced garlic instead of fresh, and left out the red pepper flakes. You can find that recipe here. With the green beans, we didn't have any sesame seeds but I was fine without them. You can find the green bean recipe here.

two months

I've been pretty busy lately, so I'm a little behind. Forgive me, and admire this adorable little girl please :o).

My big girl turned two months old on Saturday. TWO MONTHS! I can't believe it. She had her two month well baby visit yesterday, that was quite the adventure. Ryann is 10lbs 9oz, and 22.5 inches long. She is a growing girl! Poor thing must have my metabolism though... she is eating around 22 ounces of formula a day, the doctor said she should really be eating 25 at a minimum, so how the kid is shooting up on the growth charts is beyond me. She is now into size 1 diapers, and actually fits into all of her 0-3 month clothing.

The two month shots were horrible. Ry was already ticked off as soon as the nurse pinned her legs down. When the first needle went in she was screaming. It killed me. I know it is for her own good, but can't they develop something other than an injection? Seriously, it can't be that hard... :o) She has been a little more fussy than usual, but nothing crazy. I'm hoping by tomorrow she will be feeling back to her normal self.

I am in love with this smiling thing. My day is 1000 times better now that I receive some serious interaction from my daughter. Not that is was horrible before, but when that gummy smile pops up, I can't help but be grinning myself. She is also cooing and 'talking' all the time. It is too funny and so cute. Chris is pretty sure that when she learns to talk she won't ever keep her mouth shut.

I'm probably going to jinx myself, but the past two nights have been amazing. Both nights we have gotten at least a six hour stretch of sleep. Monday night Ry went down just before 11. I woke up in the middle of the night and saw that she was sleeping, checked the time, and probably did a triple take when I realized it was 5:40. I got so excited that I couldn't get back to sleep. :o) She finally woke up at 6:15. I believe the key to our new sleeping success, is trying out the swaddling thing again. I won't lie, she doesn't like it. She struggles as soon as she is swaddled. But after watching Happiest Baby on the Block, (it is available through Netflix!) we decided to give it a try. I'm keeping my fingers crossed this trend continues! And that it isn't completely miserable when we have to ween her from the swaddle not that long from now...

Ry loves to take everything in now. She tracks people and sounds around the room, and she always wants to be able to see. She gets bored pretty quickly if you aren't talking to her or there isn't something to watch. When new people hold her she just stares at them, like she is sizing them up or something.

It is so fun to see her little personality develop. She is a girl who knows what she wants, and is perfectly content as long as she gets it :o). Ry really is a good baby, even if she is kind of particular sometimes, she is pretty happy go lucky all the time. It is mildly funny though, she can be extremely happy, and then the tired bug hits and she is just a mess in 2 seconds flat.

We took Ryann on her first little vacation this past weekend. My cousin who lives in Colorado got married, so Ry enjoyed her first plane ride and her first wedding. She was an absolute dream baby on the plane ride (minus the part where she puked in my hand, but I can forgive her for that, it was a lot to take in). On the way to Colorado she was just awake and checking everything out. She slept the entire flight back. We could tell she was a little stressed the whole weekend, but she handled it really well.

Random side note? Thanks to some memorial day sales, Ry made out pretty well in the shopping department this weekend. The Carter's outlet in Loveland had 30-60% most of their clothing (I'm addicted to Carters), and she may or may not have more than a few pairs of Babylegs coming in the mail. Shopping for babies is so much more fun than shopping for me.

I can't wait to see what Ry will accomplish in the next month!
