So even though it is a little over six months away, I have been thinking about Ry's first birthday party a lot. Ok I can't lie, I've been thinking about it since she was a month old. I blame it on the blog world. If there weren't so many awesome people out there throwing awesome parties I would never feel like I have to be inspired to throw an awesome party myself!
One thing I'm loving? Rainbow cake. Just try and tell me these aren't incredibly fun.
Part of my dilemma right now, regarding a birthday party for Ryann, is lets face it. Her first birthday party is more or less for my friends and family. Yes the party is for Ryann, but as of right now she has one friend. So I don't want to 'waste' a good party theme on a party that Ryann will never remember or care about. And I don't want to look like a dork for going over the top on a first birthday. BUT, in a couple of years I have a feeling I won't be picking the theme. Please shoot me if I have to throw a Disney princess party. (I'm sure there are cool ways to do it, I just don't want to!)
Anyone have any great first birthday party ideas that they want to share?

I made a rainbow cake! I was SOOOOO proud of myself :) It was before baby, so you probably haven't seen it, but here it is!

I am having the same dilemma when thinking about Annie's 1st bday party. One theme I keep hearing about for winter birthdays (although, not sure March TECHNICALLY is winter I guess) is "Winter ONE-derland" - while it may seem overdone in bloggy/bump world, most "real life" people probably have never seen that done. I might use that theme, and since Annie is a bit older than Ryann, you can then see how it turns out!
Did you see the Rainbow party shoot just posted on A Little Sussy? You have to check it out! It's adorable!
Bri I did not!! But now I am drooling over that. Yet another party that I feel like I should save until later. Thanks for sending me over there!! :o)
The Busy Budgeting Mama just did an amazing birthday bash for her 2 yr. old. I know it's not one....but the ideas are great!

I plan on making rainbow cupcakes for my oldest's 4th bday next weekend - love them! For her 1st birthday we did a luau theme, asked guessed to dress up- had lei's for everyone etc. It was fun. For the youngest 1st birthday in January am currently thinking a monkey theme since we call her monkey.
Ashley,
I had a rainbow cake for my 9th birthday as part of a Wizard of Oz themed party (you know, black and white outside, color on the inside like the movie). It was super fun--but we were 9 then...
And, you're far too creative for Disney princesses (plus if she really wants one of those parties when she's 5, I know you'll throw one!).
