oriental coleslaw

Or as I would call it, Sheryl's Oriental Salad. This is another dish that for some reason HAS to be at our house on the 4th of July. Sheryl (my best friend's mom) usually brings it over on the 4th, and this year I told her she couldn't come without it.

Ingredients:
(Salad)
1 package slaw mix
6 green onions, chopped
2 packages ramen noodles
4 ounces sunflower seeds
4 ounces slivered almonds
1/2 stick of butter
(Dressing)
3/4 cup sunflower oil
1/2 cup tarragon vinegar
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons soy sauce

Directions:
1. Saute ramen noodles, sunflower seeds and almonds. Mix with the slaw and onions.
2. Combine dressing ingredients in a blender and mix until well blended. Pour dressing over salad and mix well.

And because I know she'll love me for it, here is Sheryl feeding Ryann on the 4th. Sheryl has some sort of awesome baby calming powers. Everytime she holds Ryann, Ry just relaxes and usually goes to sleep.

Enjoy!

My mom makes this too, but adds mandarin oranges and dried cherries--I LOVE those two little additions for the summer!

My mom always makes this salad, and I absolutely love it! It has become a staple at any summertime barbecue in our family. Delicious!
