a word of advice

My bestie and I concquered just over 12 miles on Saturday morning.  The actual run wasn't all that terrible, my leg loosened up a bit after a couple of miles.  Afterwards of course was brutal.  When we finished the run it was just over 1/10 of a mile walk back to our cars.  By the time we got there I couldn't wait to sit down.  My body was tired of holding up the belly.  It was a ten minute drive back to my house.  When I went to get out?  I could barely move.  It was a struggle to get in the door and get some breakfast.  After I ate I did some stretching.

Thankfully by the afternoon I was moving a little better, and by the next day my legs weren't really stiff or sore at all, so that is good.  One more longish run and the half marathon.  I think I can I think I can I think I can I think I can...

current view from above, apparently I'm lopsided already

One word of advice though?  If you are going to run 12 miles, and if you are going to wear a spibelt with your phone and keys inside, do not turn the pack around backwards and have it resting on your lower back.  Because even if you don't notice it, it is going to bounce up and down.  And you will feel like you were beat with a stick in the back for the next two days.  Even leaning on a couch might hurt.  But I wouldn't know this from experience or anything.

I have to admit I haven't been a very good pregnant runner, and have not been carrying water or anything.  But I decided I really need to take some fuel and some water with me this time (I'm guessing two hours of running with no food or water would get me a kick in the shins from my doctor) so I headed to Sports Authority to check out the handheld water bottles.  I've always thought a belt would be uncomfortable, especially now so with the belly.  I ended up with this Nathan Sprint Bottle.  The full size bottles seemed like they would be way too much to carry, so I thought I'd start small.  I was surprised at how easy it was to carry, and how much it didn't really bother me while I was running.  The hand strap wouldn't necessarily keep the thing from falling off my hand, but it fit into my palm pretty naturally and the strap added just enough support that I didn't need to full on hold it.  So if you're in the market for a small handheld water bottle I'd recommend it.

I failed again in the strength department this week.  Managed to make myself do push-ups once, but that is it.  Hopefully once the half is over my workout routine will change up a bit, and I'll feel like  I have a little more time for strength workouts.  I'm just going to concede to sucking at them for right now.  Oh well.

And just because the bestie and I were randomly talking about running gear... What is your favorite piece of running gear?  Or if you aren't a runner, what is your favorite piece of fitness gear?  Clothes, gadgets, etc.  I'd love to hear.  Always looking for fun new stuff to try :o).

I am new at this whole exercise thing, but I would be lost without my iPhone. I use it for tracking my calorie intake as well as workout tracking and apps!

I have a Nathan Running Belt, with two bottles and I wish I had gone for the full four bottle belt. Two bottles is okay for Half Marathons but for the Full I really needs four. Mine has a pouch in the front for gum, Gu, my keys and Chapstick.

Here's mine: In pink

I hate the belts and have tried several...I have the Nathans full size handheld and love it and anytime I run more than about 3 miles I take it. Has a small zipper pouch you can fit some fuel and your keys in. I don't run with my phone though. I use the Garmin forerunner 405 and love it!

I am a newish runner so I don't have alot of fancy gear. I would like to find a good iphone holder though..have already dropped my phone once!

I like the mapmyrun app..and ease into 10k app.

In terms of other fitness gear I use compression sleeves for my lower legs..they have pockets in them for ice packs (i get shin splints) that I can slip in after a taekwondo class or a run!

I would love to get a heart rate moniter!
