a day in the life - trina

Happy hump day!  I hope you enjoy reading about Trina's day.  Her little doll, Peyton, is absolutely adorable!

Hello Everyone! I'm Trina from the Baby Shopaholic. I am so excited to be on the Domestic Wannabe!  I hope you enjoy!

I have been married for 3 and a half years and had our first child Peyton Renee July 7, 2010. She is now 7 months.  I work full time and I love to shop! My Husband who I call Mister, is busy with his businesses running around Atlanta all day.

Our days start pretty early.  Peyton doesn't sleep all night so we are lucky when she wakes up at 3am to have a bottle.  I let Mister feed but I am up just because I can't sleep when I know she is up and plus Mister always needs something... a bib, bottle, paci....

After that Peyton wakes up around 6:30 am ready to play! That works because it is time for me to get up so I can get to work. While I take a shower Mister turns on Play With Me Sesame.  She loves it!

After I finish with the shower now Mister starts getting ready.  So I put Peyton in her bouncer, that she is really too big for while I put on makeup and finish getting ready.  Yes, I need all that makeup to cover up that I am up every night morning at 3am!
At about 7:30 I grab clean bottles and throw them in a bag and head down stairs grab some snacks and lunch for the work day, then load Peyton in the car.  We head over to my mothers home that is less thAn 5 minutes  away and she watches Peyton while we are working!  I am blessed!

I head to work which is another 10 minutes away by 8am.

My mother feeds her oatmeal and a fruit for breakfast before her 1st bottle.  She should take a nap by 10am but Grandma always gives in and lets her keep playing.

At 12pm, I leave work for lunch to see Peyton.  I play with her and sometimes feed her lunch, so my mom can take a break.  Then its back to work! Peyton usually goes down for afternoon nap about 3pm for about an 30 mins.

I pick Peyton up from Grandma's at 5:15.  I am usually there till 5:45, packing up dirty clothes, bottles, and bibs to take home and chatting with my mom.

When I get home it feels like "Show Time". I bring her straight to our room so I can change into comfy clothes then to her room to play. While she is playing I fold her clothes and put them away.

By the time she finally gets tired of playing on her own, Mister gets home around 6:30.  I get her dinner ready so Mister can feed her.  She is having oatmeal (hoping it will fill her up so she stay asleeep longer) and squash.

She usually ends up eating all her food.

Mister will entertain her for a bit while I try to find something to eat and get some stuff done around the house.  I don't cook and I am trying to shed the rest of this baby wait so I don't eat much in the evening, frozen  meal or a sandwich.

Now it's bath time!  Starts around 7:30.

Peyton hair looks crazy after I take her pony's out.  She has so much hair!  She has her own hair products! I sit her in the Bumbo chair like she is at the beauty salon to comb it.

At 8pm, I give her a bottle with oatmeal (trying to keep her sleep longer).  She goes down by 8:15 with no problems.  We are currently co-sleeping thanks to Mister!  She sleeps between us in our king bed.  I plan on getting her into her room soon!  I am not looking forward to those nights but I am sure it will be worth it in the end.

I jump on the laptop and check emails, facebook and work my blog. Mister usually goes to bed pretty soon after Peyton.  I usually stay up till 11 on the computer even though I know Peyton is going to wake up no later then 3am.  I should be more like Mister and go straight to sleep.

That's my day!  I usually hold out on shopping until the weekend because I like to keep Peyton on schedule.

Now for the questions....

1. What is the most surprising thing to you about being a mother?
The most surprising thing is after a long hard day that you can see the little one and their smile can make it all better!

2. What are some tips you would give to new moms, or soon to be mommas?
Tips that I would give new moms is to make baby and yourself priority.  It's hard work taking care of a baby and you don't have time or energy to worry about trying to do things for everyone else.  It's not selfish, its keeping you sane so you can take care of your child.

3. What are your top three baby products?

  • Itzbeen Timer!  It help me to keep track of Peyton's eating and sleeping patterns.  I didn't know if I was coming or going let alone what time she ate.  I just click a button and it would start the timer.
  • Medela Pump in Style: My breast pump was a work horse and worked overtime!  I had a lot of milk so I had to pump every 3 to 4 hours around the clock! I pumped exclusively for about 6 months.
  • Bouncer: This is a life saver when you are trying to get things done in the house.  As you can see I still put her in it.
Wish me luck on getting Peyton in her bed and getting her to sleep all night!  I hope you enjoyed a Day in the Life of the Baby Shopaholic.

Love the pics! Especially the 1st two (wedding & Peyton).
Sounds like you guys have a GREAT routine down.

I know what you mean about staying up later than you should. I do that just about every night, but with working FT outside the home, it seems like the only way to get anything done!

Wow! I know we don't talk as often as we should because of our busy lives...so it was really a pleasure to read about some of things that you have not shared with me yet. Can't wait to meet Peyton! As a mother, I can really empathize with your joy.
