short term goals

Sorry this is a little behind this morning... I didn't get it finished last night, I got up early this morning for a long run, and now we are dealing with a slightly sicky toddler :o(.

Last week I set a few goals... cut back on the sugar intake, get in five workouts and drink 72+ ounces of water each day.  I'm happy to report that I did get in five workouts, and did great with my water except on Saturday.  Unfortunately I still wasn't great in the sweets department, but definitely better.

I decided I really like having those little short term goals.  Something that I can strive for daily, that doesn't take months of training to accomplish.  So I think weekly I'll share a few of my goals that I'm aiming for.  So for this week...

lose a pound (I've gained like five in the last two months, not cool)
drink 72+ ounces of water each day
run an 8 minute mile
run/walk a total of 20 miles

Hopefully I can get all of those things accomplished!

Also, thought I'd throw out this random tidbit.  If you wear a running band for your phone or mp3 device, make sure you don't put it on too tight :o).  Friday morning I went out for a run, and it was a little chilly, maybe 40-45 degrees?  Nothing terrible of course, it actually felt pretty good.  Except for the fact that my left hand WOULD NOT warm up.  It was painfully cold the entire four miles.  When I got home I told Chris that my hand was still freezing, but when he felt it, only my thumb, pointer finger and inside of my wrist up to my elbow was cold.  Ice cold actually, and somewhat hard to move, or kind of numb.  But the outer side of my arm was fine.

At first we couldn't figure out why.  I was just going to chalk it up to my body having some of the dumbest issues, as usual.  But then Chris decided my arm band, even if it didn't feel too tight, must have been.  He said I probably pinched the nerve that ran down that side of my arm and hand.  Whoops.  Go figure, I would do something like that.  Thankfully after having the band off for about ten minutes my arm and hand warmed up and started feeling more normal.

Only the coolest things happen to me :o).

Do you set short term goals for yourself?  Have any for this week?

Good goals, and congrats on meeting 99% of them last week! Here's to a new week!

I love this. It's great to have weekly goals. I have been such a slacker because my goal was to run 500 miles this year. I feel like I still have SO much time to accomplish it, I haven't been pushing myself. I should probably amend the goal and make weekly/monthly ones to work towards and up my mileage overall!

I'm in the same boat. Too much sugar. Not enough water. I'm with you on the short term goals, they are so much easier to meet!
