riding the roller coaster

Why does commitment and dedication have to be such a hard thing?

Actually, let's start with the positives from the week.  I completed one goal of getting in three runs last week.  And I survived the run around the lake, six miles with way more hills than I usually run.  I was very excited about that.  The weather was great, it wasn't even 60 degrees when I woke up on the fourth, so I was thankful I wouldn't be battling the heat along with my longest post baby distance and hills.  My friend Jenny decided to run with me, so that was great too.  Always nice to have someone join in your misery, right?  Ha.

I wasn't expecting too many people to be there that morning, so I was quite surprised when we had to search for a place to park.  I'm terrible at estimating numbers, but I'd say somewhere between 60-75 people ran?  That is likely way off, but whatever.  We had planned on more of a group run kind of a feel, but some of those people looked serious.  However they were out of safety pins when we showed up, so Jenny and I couldn't even wear our numbers.  So I guess it wasn't too serious after all.  I was pretty much done after the first mile, but we ran on.  I don't know what it was that morning, probably just the hills, but it was tough.  We walked a few hills toward the end, but managed to finish in just under 57 minutes.  I'll take it!

As for my other two goals, well... I didn't get in a fourth workout.  We just got a double BOB, and attempted to go for a walk yesterday morning, but Elsie was NOT feeling the stroller.  Not sure if we can figure it out to make her like it, but I hope so.  But that meant not so much of a walk.  I did attempt to jog with Ry in it around the block, that was interesting.  It is so strange to run pushing a stroller, but I think I'll be able to make it work.  And I will definitely get stronger from doing it!  Just need Elsie to be a little bigger and enjoy it.

And, um, my scale says I'm up five pounds.  Massive fail on my part.  I'm sure some of that is water weight and I can take off a few pounds by next Monday, but sheesh.  You think I could have maybe convinced myself to lay off the cookies a little bit.  I hate riding the weight loss roller coaster.  It is the least fun roller coaster there is.  The one positive I can take from this, is that I know what I need to do change the situation, and I won't beat myself up about it anymore.  It is a new week, and I've got new goals, and I'm going to try and make it happen!

My goals for this week:

lose two pounds
three runs
four added sugar free days
100 crunches every day

What are your goals this week?

Such a cute photo! I'm always impressed with everything you can accomplish each week with two little ones in tow. I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

Thanks for your sweet comment You've definitely motivated me to work harder to lose this baby weight. I just got the couch to 5k app on my phone. Have you done it? I'm thinking of starting tomorrow. It can't hurt!

Well done on your run! Don't be too hard on yourself for the slight weight gain - if you're running more, you're building more muscle so it will fluctuate initially. Just keep measuring the cm/inches rather!! (Advice given to me from my Pilates instructor) keep going - you inspire me! Kim from SA
