christmas eve 2011

For as long as I can remember we have always spent Christmas with my Dad's side of the family.  I recall one time with my mom's family, and maybe, MAYBE one time at our own house, but really we have always been in Omaha.

Every year we talk about spending Christmas at home with just my immediate family, but you know?  It just doesn't seem right.  Not yet anyway.  Maybe when there are a few more little kiddos in the mix, but for now, I absolutely love spending the holidays with my crazy big family.  I think at one point there were between 40-45 of us at my uncle's house.

Really there is no need to explain all of those.  There were lots of people, lots of food, and lots of laughter.  Also lots of tears, but that was mostly from over tired overloaded with sugar little people.  But Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without that right?

We still do the big extended family gatherings in my family too - there was some talk of stopping because we are getting "too big" (over 50 people now on my dad's side) but we still managed on Monday and it was so fun - I loved seeing Annie run around with all my cousin's kids - she had a blast. We all live in the MSP area but only see each other twice a year or so, so it's always great to catch up. I hope the big Christmas gatherings last at least a few more years yet!
