Last year we only used green, champagne and silver ornaments. This year I am loving the addition of the blue (turquoise? teal? whatever). Definitely adds a little more color to the tree. In the evenings the green and champagne ornaments tend to blend in and disappear, so it is nice to have some ornaments you can actually see.
I wish we had room for a second tree in our house. This one is more of what I would call a 'fashion' tree. It looks nice, but doesn't really have any meaning. It would be great to have a tree to put up some more meaningful ornaments. Like the ones my mom saved for me when I was younger. Or the penguin that Ryann diligently colored the other night. We don't have very many special ornaments right now, maybe I'll have to find a spot for a little one somehow...

I love the blue addition to the tree and just precious pictures. I will definitely have to remember to get a picture like that!
Beautiful pictures - looks like you guys had fun :)
Beautiful tree! Ours is a combination of decorative ornaments and the "special" ones. it's a lovely combination.

Great pictures! Right now mine is more a combination of "fashion" and the "special" ones. It doesn't really have a theme, but the type A in me really wants to have one. The hubby always gets mad when I buy more ornaments because he thinks we already have some...that don't currently match anything ;) I would love a smaller tree though for our special ornaments for the living room and keep the fancy one for the family room. One day...
gorgeous tree!!

Can you share some tips for what settings your camera was on? I have read a couple of sites (via Pinterest of course!) but am having serious difficulties getting a decent picture of our tree! (Probably mostly in part to the fact that I still don't really know how to use my camera!)
Danielle- I'm on my laptop right now, so I don't know the exact settings (the photos are on my desktop in the other room). But I'm pretty sure it was something close to ISO 1600, f/2.0, 1/60. Basically crank up your ISO, lower your f-stop and slow down your shutter speed. I did get my settings via pinterest. Hope that helps!
Wow! What a lovely tree! And such sweet photos! I do understand what you mean by it lacking "meaning". Ornaments are expensive and I can only imagine how many years it would take to save and collect ornaments with sentimental value. I travel a lot, so I want to start collecting ornaments from each place I travel to! Hope you and your family are having a great weekend!

Your tree is darling. We moved states a few months ago and managed to lose our box of ornaments. Most importantly my 3 year old sons ornaments he got/we bought him each year. I'm pretty traumatized and am having to build all over again. So, I understand when you say you want a 'special' tree. I never really realized how special they were until they were gone. So, good luck with your special tree! Even just a smaller one would do until you had the room for another one!
