this and that

Really, I am so glad that you guys keep mentioning that these random ramblings are so well received.  It is nice to have a place to dump stuff that doesn't seem to need a post of it's own.  So on to some ramblings...

::  I thought I should mention that my yellow + stripes outfit combo seen in this post, was inspired by a pin.  I feel as though I always need some justification for time spent wasted browsing on pinterest.  I liked the original pin's version a bit more, but I was working with what I've got, and that didn't include a cute little ruffly cardigan.  Oh well.  I heart stripes.

::  Yesterday I told Ryann we had to get gas, that our car's gas tank was empty.  She asked, "Did the car drink it all?"  I thought that was a pretty clever interpretation of the situation.

::  Want to know how to test your will power against sweets?  Bake some cookies, and then have your mom bring you some cookies she baked, and then have girl scout cookies delivered in the same week.  Yep, that is happening around here.  I'll give you my prediction on the outcome of this situation... I'm going to eat a lot of cookies.  And then the residents at the hospital will also get a lot of cookies.

::  Oh yeah, yesterday during nap time I was listening to Ryann in her crib over the monitor... "No, don't touch da monitor.  No pull on curtains.  No piggy bank.  No pull on drawers.  No climb chair..."  Apparently there are a lot of things off limits in her room.   Whoops.

::  A few pictures from our little visit to Santa this weekend...  Please ignore the terribleness of the photo with Santa.  I was just trying to get a quick picture before she freaked out.  At first she had no interest in sitting on Santa's lap (even though she had been talking about it ALL MORNING).  But then I promised her some chocolate if she did.  Bam.  She sat on Santa's lap.  I really need to work on not bribing my child so much...

Oh and that little sweater dress/top?  It was the one she wore Christmas day last year.  I love that I was able to reuse it this year (and I think I like it better this year, much better with the jeggings than the grey leggings :o)!

:: Speaking of Christmas outfits.  I absolutely cannot find anything I want Ryann to wear for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (ok I haven't really thought that much about Christmas day, we're usually a bit more casual that day, but whatever...).  I've exhausted Baby Gap, Old Navy, Gymboree, The Children's Place, Nordstrom, Macy's, Crazy 8, Tea Collection, Janie and Jack, a local boutique... I want something dressy, not overly traditional, and it needs to be comfortable.  Last year Ryann HATED her dress, granted at the time she was a teething monster cutting her top two teeth, but she was extra cranky until we changed her to her pjs (I haven't picked out Christmas pjs either... I should probably just let her wear her gingers :o).  Any suggestions on other places I can check?

::  I took this photo last week, had to pop it in here :o).

::  Ryann peed on my foot last night.  You're jealous, I know.  She went on the potty before we were going to take a bath, and right now she has this terrible habit of not getting it all out at once.  She just gets so excited that she went, that she pees or poos a bit, and then stands up to check it out and say 'hooray!'.  Then she'll sit down and go some more, stand up again... you get the gist.  A trip to the potty can take FOREVER.  Well last night she went, stood up, yadda yadda, I asked her if she needed to go anymore and she was just dancing around like a goober, I asked her a few more times and assumed she was done because she wasn't responding either way.  So I turned on the bath water.  She was standing next to me while I was adjusting the water temperature, when she suddenly said "Mommy!" and looked up at me with huge eyes.  And then she peed... all over the floor, and all over my foot.  Oh the joys of motherhood.  :o)

I was told by my friend, who is a early childhood specialist, that it is only bribery if you give it to them before. Otherwise, it is a reward, and you shouldn't feel bad about it at all!

Rewards work, bribery doesn't! So, no worries!

Have you tried oshkosh or carters? Also Hannah Andersen is good... I hope you can find something! Luckily I have a mom who is an airline stewardess so she is always in different places and picks things up for my little man. So he got him covered for this year. Good luck!! :)

I love these posts and her pigtails are about the cutest things ever. My daughter (18 months) won't keep a bow or headband in her hair for a second, so once her hair grows out some I'm praying she will tolerate a pony or piggies. Love it!

I think Ryann is just the smartest little girl. You do a great job working with her and she is so perceptive!
Her faces just crack me up... especially the one on Santa's lap. LOL. Love the partial grin :)

Have you looked at The Little House in Brookside? I got some adorable black mary-janes and tights there for my flower girls a few years back and they had the most adorable clothes! The owner is awesome and her son, nieces, and nephews are some of the best dressed kids I know!
