this and that

::  I wanted to clarify on my calorie intake, so nobody freaks out on me (I'm not saying anyone was freaking out, but I realized I didn't fully explain).  Yes, breakfast is usually 235, lunch between 240-250, dinner between 450-550, adding up to somewhere between 925 and 1,035.  I also always have a dessert for AT LEAST 70 calories (sometimes as high as 180), plus a 90-120 calorie snack somewhere.  I never let my intake be lower than 1000 calories, and on the days I run, I will usually throw in another 100 or so somewhere.  As far as I know, I am not starving myself.  If anyone out there is an expert on the matter I'm always open to suggestions and opinions!

::  Itty bitty denim shorts.  Need I say more?

::  This morning I went for a run.  I was trucking along, with only a minute left in my last run.  I was feeling great and hauling butt.  Then bam.  I was eating pavement.  Yes, that makes the second time I've completely wiped out while running in like three weeks.  How am I that clumsy?  Ok really I am blaming it on the ridiculously uneven sidewalks around my neighborhood.  They are terrible.  So terrible that sometimes the stroller gets stuck.  So I guess I can't be that surprised that they trip me up if I'm not 100% paying attention to where my foot is going.  Thankfully no one saw me (I'm pretty sure anyway), and the phone survived yet again.  Ironically, the tuneband I ordered for my phone arrived in the mail today.  If only yesterday hadn't been a holiday...

::  Last week Ryann sat like this and watched the cars go by.  She is kind of silly.

I know her eyes are closed, I still found it kind of cute

::  Ok, I'm sure I've asked before but I am looking for book suggestions.  I just purchased  The Violets of March to read on our vacation, but I want to get a running list together of books I want to read.  I'm a hopeless romantic and love easy reads, but enjoy other stuff as well.  Recently (ok in the last two years) I've read tons of Jodi Piccoult books, Water For Elephants, The Guersney Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, The Time Traveler's Wife, and probably some others I can't remember.  Any suggestions?

::  These pictures just make me smile.  This kid has a whole lot of personality.

::  Ok, last random question for you.  As a reward for myself WHEN (not if) I reach my weight loss goal, I want to find my perfect jeans.  Nice jeans.  They don't have to be pricey, they don't have to be cheap, I just really want to find some denim that looks great on me.  Because 80% of the time I live in jeans.  It works for me.  Keep in mind I've got a whole lot of junk in the trunk, and a relatively small waist.  Has anyone out there (with a booty like mine!) found a pair of jeans you love?

::  Oh, by the way.  I need this.  Bad.

::  Opps.  I forgot I wanted to add these pictures too.  This is what Ryann did when Chris set her down in the grass the other day.  She was trying to keep her legs from touching it.

I think you would really like The Help by Kathryn Stockett. And apparently they're making a movie, so you can watch the trailer to see what it's about! Read it before seeing the movie, though. It's worth it.

P.S. You look FABULOUS. Stop thinking about the goal for a minute and look at the progress you've made. You are amazing! :)

I second "The Help." Check out "Island of Swans" and "Cottage By the Sea" by Ciji Ware as well as "Winter Sea" by Susanna Kearsley. I flew through all of those books in about 2 weeks. They were that good!

I'll second The Help and Redeeming Love.
Redeeming Love is one of my all-time favorite books.

As for jeans, Gap's Long and Leans are about the only jeans that fit me well. Mine are always baggy in the waist, but fitted through the butt and thighs. Long and Leans work for me. (Makes me laugh because I'm not long, or lean. :) ) Also, they come in "ankle" length, which is a good thing for me.

Good luck jean shopping!

I'm delurking because I am an avid reader (of books and your blog!) and love giving book suggestions. :)

I would suggest anything by Alice Hoffman. My mother and I have two favorite authors: Jodi Picoult and Alice Hoffman.
My favorite Hoffman novel is "Blackbird House" but I really love every single book of hers that I have read. Did I mention that is all of them, including her young adult novels?

JEANS! Citizens of Humanity or 7 for All Mankind are THE. BEST. Handsdown. Good luck jean shopping and great job on working so hard towards your goals!

I'm also delurking, I don't have books suggestions but I have some jean suggestions. I know how hard it is to find jeans (I also have a small waist and some junk in the trunk). The best ones I have found lately are gaps perfect boot, the rise stay up over your tush but doesn't look like mom jeans and they don't stretch out and give you saggy butt. In fact the pair I have has gotten too big and I'm planning on getting another pair.

I highly recommend "The Hunger Games" trilogy. The first movie comes out next year. I can't wait!

My doctor has always said women should never eat less than 1200 calories per day - anything less than that isn't good for your body.

I just finished the book "Same Kind of Different as Me". Hands down - one of the top 5 books I've ever read. It was amazing and inspired me to forge a stronger relationship with God and a less judgmental attitude towards others.

Ryann looks so cute! I love all of her little faces (and clothes) :)

Sorry to hear about your 2nd tumble- way to hop right back up, though. I would have boo hooed all the way home :) You are doing such a great job reaching your goals!

I hope you have a fabulous week~

Re: Book recommendations, I second The Help, Redeeming Love, and The Hunger Games as others have already suggested. I also recently read My Name is Memory and I thought it was an awesome love story. It kind of reminded me of Time Traveler's Wife.

Books I would recommend: The Help, The Hunger Games, The Thirteenth Tale, The Glass Castle, and Heaven is for Real. I could keep going, but that's a good list!

I can't believe how big she is getting!

I also suggest The Hunger Games trilogy -completely riveting. A fan-freaking-tastic book is "The Book Thief" by Marcus Zusak. Have you read "Something Borrowed" and "Something Blue" by Emily Giffin? So cute and the movie was way, way cute, too.

Jeans. To hear my read my short and sweet glowing review of my fave jeans and the link for them, check out the blog I wrote today: http://www.coreysgal.blogspot.com. If you don't have time for that or don't feel like it, the REALLY short answer is Levi's Curve ID. I also just lost more than 20 lbs (went from a 12 to an 8) and these jeans rock my world at only $60 a pop! Go get measured for them and you (and your butt) will guaranteed be thanking me.

Good luck - you look fab!

Oops, forgot to delete the "hear my" before I posted my comment. Sorry 'bout that.

I love Joe's jeans. I get mine at Nordstrom Rack so they aren't so pricey, but one thing that has helped with them is that they have a "high-wasted" cut that is actually just high enough so that I don't have any muffin top/whale tail issues. They fit my massive ex-dancer thighs really well, and you can just get them nipped in at the waist-it's a really simple alteration.
