You see, my poor husband has been getting up for work at 4am (and working until 7:00pm or later. LONG DAY). The first day no biggie, I barely woke up. The second day I fell back asleep but was in and out for a little over an hour before just getting up. Today? Today I was wide awake when his alarm went off at 4:15am. I tossed and turned for a while, but inevitably ended up on the internet. So I opted to share some ramblings.
:: I'm not really sure why we so looked forward to Christopher graduating from med school. I mean obviously, we want to keep moving forward in the process, but for some reason I thought the hours and schedule couldn't get all that much worse. Seriously, what rock was I living under? Ryann hasn't seen her daddy in a few days. It sucks. Yes, I know it could be so much worse. Again, I admire single parents and those with spouses in the military who are deployed. But really, I had no idea what I was signing up for when Christopher decided he wanted to be a doctor. Only like 33 months to go...
:: Why on Earth is it so complicated to find men's sweatpants in white? I mean, I guess that wouldn't be a super popular color, but I finally decided on Halloween costumes for Christopher and I, but I can't find any stupid white sweatpants. I guess I'll have to try and order some. Lame.
:: With all of the iphone photos I've been taking lately, I think I need to put them together similar to the photo below. How fun would that be? And you could make a new one after each year to change it out or something? I also remember Ashley at Under the Sycamore mentioning wanting to do a square photo book from a vacation. That could be another fun yearly project with my favorite hipstamatic prints. Maybe a project 365 of sorts?
:: What is your go-to casual shoe? I heart flat boots, but sometimes they just don't fit the bill for the day (like when I'm not planning on wearing my jeggings). I want something cute and COMFORTABLE. I don't do well with uncomfortable.
:: I made the super easy Hawaiian BBQ Chicken on Wednesday. Was it mind blowing? Not exactly. But considering the fact that I dumped three ingredients into the crock pot and went on my merry way. And dinner tasted good. That is mind blowing and totally worth it. You should make it.
:: Speaking of dinners, I need your help. Christopher's schedule is really unpredictable this month (ok that isn't unusual, but it is a bit worse this month) so dinner is sort of boggling my mind a bit. Last night he didn't get home until 9:45pm, so obviously I didn't wait for him to have dinner. I just made a Healthy Choice microwave meal. But I don't really want to do that every night. Ryann never eats what I make so it seems silly to cook for just myself (especially since entertaining Ryann while doing so can be impossible). What do you do if you know you and your spouse won't be eating together? What is your go to easy meal?
:: Last Thursday Ryann actually went pee on her potty seat for the first time. We had read Princess of the Potty like twelve times and she decided she wanted to sit on the potty. And she actually peed! I of course got all excited and told her what a big girl she was yadda yadda yadda. She was more concerned with the fact that her potty made an oval in the seat. Since then? She freaks out if I ask her to sit on the potty and wants nothing to do with it. Oh well.
:: It is a bit unfortunate that I don't know how to sew/don't own a sewing machine, and my mom told me she hates making ruffles. Not to mention she has already been locked in her sewing room for like a week making costumes. Because I think this little trick or treat bag is adorable.
:: Generally I burst out into random song while Ryann and I are hanging out at home. I can't remember what I was singing, but I started belting out a tune (incredibly off key I'm sure) the other day. Ryann said "No mommy. No like your song. No singing." I responded with "You don't like my song?" She then said "RUDE!" and started cracking up. Wow. I am so in for it.
:: I'm incredibly indecisive. Therefore this little bloggity blog make-over is taking me longer than I'd like. I think I finally have some stuff coming together that I like, now I just have to find enough tutorials online to make it all happen. I wish I had the money to just have someone else do it, but inevitably I'd want to change it again, and then I'd be back at square one.
:: Somehow I've made it to 6:05am. The wee one is awake. Guess that means my rambling time is up. Seriously, will she ever learn to sleep in? :o)

Pete and I often don't eat dinner together. We usually wrap up our workdays at different times, plus he loooooves meat and hates all veggies except potatoes! My go-to easy meal is a quick stirfry. I use frozen mixed veggies, tofu or chicken, some peanuts and some green curry sauce, and usually cook up either white rice or noodles to go with it. Super quick and easy! We also have a panini press and I'll make a panini out of whatever we have in the fridge. You can throw together the crappiest sandwich and it feels fancy on the panini press :)
I have to tell you, these are my favorite posts of yours!
My on my own meal, english muffin with peanut butter and jelly.
or sauteed veggies and pasta and sauce, all things quick and easy
Rude...that's awesome! Your rambling posts are actually one of my favs. So real and normal, I like reading that kind of stuff. Happy weekend!
You should definitely make a photo collage like that one. :) Have you ever worn sperry's? They're insanely comfortable, and actually cover your foot, as opposed to ballet flats! I can't wait to see pictures of you guys in halloween costumes. Or maybe I'll be so lucky to see you in real life... :) Have a good weekend!!
Haha love this post, sometimes randomness is necessary :)
New follower!
My hubs has several nights that he works late and has several long days too! I just cook like I normally would and eat with Noah, or after I put him down for bed! I know sad!! But usually if I am not too tired I wait up for Todd and sit with him while he eats his late dinner. His job sucks so he doesn't get a dinner break :(
And I soo hear ya on admiring single parents and parents with deployed spouses, because Todd's schedule is hard!! If you ever wanna chat feel free to email me :)
my favorite thing to eat on my own is yogurt and granola. i make my own yogurt and make my own granola so it's cheap and i always have it on hand. and it's healthy and a small serving keeps me full so it's actually a good thing to eat at night as well as in the morning. and i love it so much it feels like a late night dessert. let me know if you want either recipe. both are honestly the quickest, easiest thing ever.
ps- i'm with everyone else. these kinds of posts are my favorite.
yikes, you're up for the day just a couple hours after i go to bed :P on my realllly lazy comfy days, i wear uggs. yes, they may be a fashion faux paux, but there really isn't anything more comfy!
TOMS are super comfortable. I didn't think they were that cute at first, but I've totally come around. I even want to get another pair, just for another color. (and for every one you buy they give a pair to a child in need)
